Simon Drummond-Hay is the principal ofHDH Planning and Development. He is a chartered surveyor with a wide experience of both development and professional practice. His knowledge and excellent track record is based on an in-depth, understanding of current planning legislation and process and of the key processes behind property investment, management and development. Simon has significant experience of working on CIL assignments and is currently advising two of DCLG’s eight CIL frontrunners.
He regularly appears at planning appeals and enquiries and also speaks at national and regional conferences on practical aspects of the development process. He has advised the Prince of Wales’ Rural Affordable Housing Initiative and the Countryside Agency on housing issues.
Simon has a small specialist team providing viability and housing advice (CIL, SHMAs and Housing Needs Surveys) for planning authorities and development advice for landowners and developers.
Simon is a director of Rural Business Homes Ltd, a specialist, rural, mixed use, developer and of Housing Enterprise Fund Ltd, a specialist investor in shared ownership affordable housing. In the past he has worked for Northern Affordable Homes Ltd (2001 to 2008 Development Director), Savills / Clegg Kennedy Drew Ltd (1995 to 2000 Associate Director) and (Strutt and Parker 1990 to 1995 Land Agent).
